Welcome to St Patrick & St. Edmund Catholic Primary School

Welcome to St Anne’s Catholic Academy

Headteacher Louise Barress

I am delighted to welcome you to St. Patrick and St. Edmund’s Catholic Primary School. Having joined the school in September 2024, I feel incredibly privileged to lead such a vibrant and caring community where Catholic values are at the heart of everything we do. We are a diverse, multicultural, two-form split site entry Catholic school in the heart of Birmingham, serving the Ladywood/Winson Green area. The children and families that make up our school family come from all around the globe.

At SPSE, we are proud to provide a good education that nurtures the whole child. Our school has received recognition for its high standards, with a recent Ofsted inspection awarding us a good rating and a Catholic Schools Inspection (CSI) grading us as Good in June 2024. These achievements reflect the dedication and hard work of our staff, students, and families in creating an environment where children thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.

As a Catholic school, our faith is central to our identity. We encourage our students to live out Christian values, showing kindness, respect, and compassion in their daily lives. Through a broad and balanced curriculum enriched with opportunities for spiritual growth, we support our children in becoming confident, well-rounded individuals ready to contribute positively to society.

I am excited to begin this journey with the families of St. Patrick and St. Edmund’s. Getting to know our students, their families, and the wider community is a priority for me, as I believe strong partnerships between school and home are key to our success. Together, we can ensure that every child is equipped to achieve their best and flourish in a supportive and loving environment.

Thank you for choosing SPSE for your child’s education. I look forward to meeting you all and working closely to make your child’s experience here truly exceptional.

Our Mission

Our Mission Statement

As dynamic nurturing schools, we at St Patrick and St Edmund's will shine the light of God's love as we move forward together in Christ. Through our Gospel values, we aim:

  • To make all in our school family feel they are included, valued and respected and have a positive contribution to make. To provide a welcoming, bright and stimulating environment where all children feel happy secure and safe and to inspire all in our community to be successful in their learning.
  • To create a school family where tolerance and understanding are promoted and where the different spiritual, cultural moral and personal worlds in which we live are harmonised to form the roots which will hold our children secure.
  • To instil in our children, through Mass, worship and prayer, a lasting belief in their unique worth as children of God, guided and blessed by His love on their journey through life.
  • To encourage the school community to bear witness to Gospel values handed down by Christ in the Beatitudes. To treat others with love, forgiveness, compassion and respect as Jesus taught us.
  • To nurture children of whom families and school can be justly proud - children who are hardworking, confident, caring role models who leave our school friends with God and with one other, ready for the challenges that life brings.
